41st UPU letter Writing Competition
The Department of Posts has proposed to conduct 41st Universal Postal Union (UPU) letter writing competition at Namakkal on 08.01.2011. Applications are invited from the students by the Superintendent of Post Offices, Namakkal Division, Namakkal on or before 20.12.2011 with required certificates / information. The details of the competition is furnished below.
1. Subject : “Write a letter to an athlete or sports figure
you admire to explain what the Olympic Games mean to you”
2. Participants eligibility : Children up to 15 years of age as on 31.03.2011
3. Content and form : Composition must be presented in the form of
letter about 500 to 800 words length on the given subject.
4. Date and Time : 08.01.2012(Sunday), 10.00 am to 11.00 am
5. Language : English or any Language listed in the 8th
scheduleof the constitution of India
6. Last date for
Submission of forms : 20.12.2011
7. Prizes (at National level)
a. One First prize - Rs.2000/- and a certificate
b. One Second prize - Rs.1500/- and a certificate
c. One Third prize - Rs.1000/- and a certificate
d. Consolation Prizes - Rs.250/- to the best entry from each
Postal Circle and a certificate
“The best entry at the National Level shall qualify as the official
Indian Entry fort the International competition”
The Universal Postal Union shall select the award winning entries. The top three entries will be awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze medal respectively along with Certificate and album of UPU official postage stamps from UPU.
The application form should be submitted in duplicate along with photograph before last date to this office.

Supply of Speed post barcodes stickers and speed post bag labels
In Speed post operations as barcode stickers and bag labels play a vital role in all stages right from booking to delivery, So regularizing the supply to Pos is essential.
Computerised offices:
The computerized offices SPMSs are strictly instructed to use only single barcode stickers for booking SP articles ,and the range of barcode stickers ie ET5----- to ET7___ only and use the speed post bag labels ie EBT+10 digit for dispatch of Sp articles.
Non computerized offices
The non computerized offices SPMs and BPMs are also strictly instructed to use only integrated receipt book for booking SP articles Moreover the range of barcode stickers ie ET5----- to ET7___ only and use the speed post bag labels ie EBT+10 digit for dispatch the sp articles.
Vide this office letter no BD/Barcode dtd 14.09.2011 you have been already directed to place indent to PSD directly. The indent should be made well in advance and borrowing the barcode stickers and integrated receipt book and bag labels from nearest office should be completely avoided.
The PMs/SPMs are instructed to follow the above mentioned point for avoiding of duplication of barcode.
The Sub Divisional heads will please to check the barcode and bag labels during their visit whether correct barcode and labels are being used.
