Kindly
refer to the above.
Circle Office, Chennai has intimated
that the time line for supply of CTS 2010 standard cheque books to the
customers are extended by 31.03.13.
Hence all are requested to withdraw the
notice if already placed on the notice boards of the office (which was
previously instructed to place on the notice board).
1. Also kindly cause to inform the receipt
of cheque books as and when supply is received from HOs to SOs.
2. On receipt of CTS 2010 cheque books at
HOs and SOs a notice may be put on the notice board for the awarness of the
depositors to replace the cheque books with new CTS 2010 standard cheque books.
3. While replacing old cheque books,
preference should be given to those depositors who are frequently using cheques
for clearance purpose and a cancellation stamp should be placed on the unused
cheques of the old cheque books collected. Procedure for disposal of old
cancelled cheque books will be circulated separately.
4. Old cheques should continue to be
accepted at the counter of the Post office for withdrawal till new cheque books
are not supplied to the POSB customers.

All India Potal Kabaddi Tournament - Tamilnadu Team is the Winner
The 26 th All India Postal Kabaddi Tournament 2012 being held at Rail Stadium Vijayawada was concluded today. In the final match played today , Tamilnadu circle team emerged as winners by defeating Maharastra with a margin of 32 points( TN- 41, Maharastra- 9). In the play off match for third place played between Gujarat and Kerala, Kerala won by 3 points ( Kerala - 25, Gujarat - 22).
Pranjal.T.Pawar of Maharastra has won the"Best Rider" Trophy and C.Ranjit of Tamilnadu won the 'Player of the Tournament" Trophy.
Sri K.P.Sethy, PMG Kurnool attended the closing ceremony as Chief Guest and Sri A.K.A Joshi,PMG Vijayawada presided over the function. Kum M.Kalyani, Beejing Asian Games Gold Medal winner in Kabaddi and Employee of South Central Railway has gave away medals and Trophies to the players and teams.Sri D.S.V.R.Murthy, DPS Vijayawada has also attended the function.

As
per Cheque Truncation System, only standard CTS cheque book is to be supplied
to the POSB customers and now the same is under supply from CSD Nasik to the
PSDs. In this connection Circle Office has instructed to do the following.
1. All the head of the office to put a
notice on all notice boards of the Post Offices requesting POSB cheque account houlders,
not to issue any cheque from existing cheque books after 15.12.12.
2. Also kindly cause to inform the receipt
of cheque books as and when supply is received from HOs to SOs.

Release of New version of e-Post Software.
The enhanced new version of e-Post software is ready for release. The main features of new version are given below for all the three types of users (Retail, Prepaid and Corporate):
a) Multilingual feature has been added in the Text editor where Operator type the message in the Text box in the desired language. 11 languages have been provided for in our system – Hindi, Tamil (Ambili, Karthika, Revathy), Malyalam, Orriya, English, Assam, Gujarat, Konkari, Sanskrit, Marathi, Manipuri.
b) *.Pdf file Upload
c) Many to One-Many Senders sending message to One person/recipient.
d) Pre-Paid Cash module - On line registration and then payment of CASH at the ePost – Post Office counter to get the account activated
e) Re-Printing of ePost message-here operator send a request to Circle, once gets approved by the Circle ePost coordinator the message printout could be taken by the operator.
f) Creation of ePost centre and its user ID at the Circle level, creation of Region user ID, creation of Division user ID at the Regional level, creation of PM user at the Division level and re-setting of pwd by the circle of it’s region/division as per their hierarchy.
g) Download of MIS – Report etc. in. pdf, excel format.
h) Auto Corporate Bill generation and its’s delivery on the corporate user e-mail account.
i) eGreetings-Uploading of greeting by the directorate and provision for sending of eGreetings has given to Retail, Prepaid and Corporate user.
j) Circle can change the mapping of the pincode.
k) Corporate user have been given privilege to create Template using Multilingual feature, they have been also provided Scan, Text, PDF option for sending ePost.
Feature for APS Users:-
l) Corps Mapping incorporated into this new system
m) FPO Pincode-Display of FPO pincode only while booking of ePost, no name of the centre will come now onwards – this is as per instruction from APS Directorate.
n) Debit Army ePost option provided.
o) Now all the data pertaining to APS would reside at APS on their server at their location at 1CBPO – ePost centre.
p) Now on the main ePost system i.e. central server data will have the record of message send from or to APS.
q) Communication between central server and APS server would get established through Web services.
2. Corporate Customer have to be informed by their respective Postal Circle that they would be losing all their created templates and have to create new template in the new version of application s/w using Multilingual font feature
3. The new version of ePost software will be released on 12th December 2012.

Circulation of Fake Currency Notes
National Crime Records Bureau
(NCRB) has informed that the total number of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN)
seized and recovered in the years 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12 has been as
follow:-

In terms of the statistics
provided by NCRB, as mentioned above, it is seen that the number of counterfeit
notes detected in the country during the year 2011-12 was less than the year
2010-11. However, the total value of these notes was more in the year 2011-12
than the year 2010-11.
The government has also
constituted a Terror Funding and Fake Currency Cell (TFFC) in NIA in 2010 to
focus on investigation of Terror Funding and Fake Currency Cases. Reserve
Bank of India (RBI) has also strengthened the mechanism for detection of
counterfeit notes by the banks.
This
was stated by the Minister of State for Finance, Shri Namo Narain Meena in
written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha.

DOP proposes to open 80 Branch Post Offices and 50 Sub-Post Offices in the country during 2012-13
India has the largest number of Post Offices in the
world. However, 5,00,327 villages are without Post Offices in the country.
Opening of Post Offices is an on-going process. New Post Offices are opened as
per the prescribed norms and subject to availability of Plan funds and
manpower. It has been proposed to open 80 Branch Post Offices and 50 Sub-Post
Offices in the country during the current financial year (2012-13).
24,969 departmental Post Offices have been computerized, out of which 21,606 Post Offices have been provided electronic money order facilities. The Department has a plan to provide these services through all Post Offices in phased manner and it is expected to be completed during the current Plan.
This information was given by Dr. (Smt.) Killi Kruparani, Minister of State for C&IT in written reply to a question in Lok Sabha.

42nd UPU Letter Writing Competition to be held on 06.01.2013
The Department of Posts has proposed to conduct
42nd Universal Postal Union (UPU) letter writing competition at
Namakkal on 06.01.2013. Applications are invited from the students by the
Superintendent of Post Offices, Namakkal Division, Namakkal on or before
24.12.2012 with required certificates / information. The detail of the
competition is furnished below.
