This is regarding Improvement of
mail delivery services from the Post Offices. Our Directorate has decided to
strengthen the mail delivery processes and re-organise beats in order to asses
the requirement of delivery personnel across the country. Re-organising
delivery beats involves a comprehensive preparatory exercise in terms of data
collection. The purpose of this exercise is two fold. We must know the
dimensions of the beat length for normal and congested areas traversed by the
Postman. On the other hand, we should asses the quantum of mails for various
categories handled by the delivery post offices.
In
this connection, the Directorate has called for the information regarding the
length of beat and the quantum of mails received on various categories on
12.09.2012 under supervision. The date collected at Post Offices will be will
be used for preparing blue print of redesigned delivery mechanism. Therefore
utmost care should be taken to ensure that the measurement of beats and
collection of data on mail volumes is validated at all levels.
The figures collected at Post Offices on 12.09.2012 should be
noted in the proforma enclosed and should be submitted to this office on the
same day (12.09.12) itself, as a consolidation report is to be submitted to RO
on 13.09.12
